Is Drumming Just For Boys…….
This is not something new, ever since i started teaching in 2011-2012 there was always talented and enthusiastic girls enquiring about drumming. However, every now and then, I will still get an enquiry from a budding young female drummer (or parents of) asking “Are there many girls drumming?” or “ do you teach Girls?” and the answer is YES, any person can learn to play the drums in H91 Drum School.
Meinl Turbo Slaptop Cajon
Right off the bat I want to let you know i love this drum. This slaptop Cajon is so much fun to play, the position of it sitting on your lap rather having to bend over to reach the playing surface of a traditional Cajon make even a long gig so much more pleasurable.
The body of the Meinl Turbo Slaptop Cajon is made from Baltic Birch with the playing surface is Walnut. The snare effect takes the pain away from slap tones and it has forward sound projection for the bass and high sounds and textures. This is all helped by the in built pick up and a 6.3 mm mono jack input/output with controls for there Snare and Bass.
Practice From The Head But Play From The Heart
This is very much like when people ask “ Will lessons effect the creativity of the musician?” Granted this is always a conversation I have with teens and adult students rather then the kids but its one that really leans to the belief that lesson will interfere with creativity. I obviously think that with lesson from the right teacher, drumming eduction will improve creativity, as it gives the student drummer more tools to make better and more informed musical choices. But I have seen that too much technical and methodical playing can completely ruin a drummers or a bands spontaneity and feel.
Its About The Students
In H91 Drum School everything is done with the student in mind. Be it online drum lessons or in person lessons they are one to one, so full attention is on the student, there is a limited amount of students in a day, with a maximum of a two hour lesson block so that each student gets the best out of myself.
Drummers Swamp Ass…. The Cure
So let's talk about Swamp ass, or as i call it Drummers swamp ass. We've all been there probably more often then not and maybe we never leave there. In this video we will talk about how sweaty it can be when we are drumming and how annoying it is when we are drumming, that the collection of sweat congregates in our nether regions.
Well I've tried a few thing to stop this from being a problem but now I've think I've found the solution to swamp ass, or drummers swamp ass. Ive used Chassis for men for over a year now and I've never been dryer down below when knocking out a few beats. ( and I'm not being sponsored for this video) Its worth try if you have this issue when you are drumming.

Cajon Lesson Ireland

Cajon is not an expensive instrument, the entry point to the instrument can be as low as €50 - €80 so it’s great for people that are thinking of getting into drumming and learning more about rhythm and the history of drumming. Also, learning the Cajon will improve manual dexterity giving the hands of the student more control over skillful day to day tasks and improve their range of motion. This can help students with Dyspraxia.
How To Set Up A Drum Kit?
One of the things i’ve found when teaching beginners drum lessons in Galway city in Ireland and online is that parents and beginner drummers set the drum kit up where everything is in place, however it is not ergonomically in place in order to play drums more efficiently. This can be a bit of a problem for a beginner drummer and especially for kids that wants to learn drums, and generally it’s only a few tweaks that make it perfect.
